Underwater Airport Walkway
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is about to open a walkable underwater passageway. This will be the world’s first Airport walkway of this type. The Airport is located on an island in Lake Ontario and this 800 foot tunnel walkway will connect it to downtown Toronto. This will provide customers with an alternative mode of transportation besides the ferry, to and from the Airport. With the use of moving sidewalks, this trip will take approximately six minutes. This project took about three years to build at a cost of $82.5 million.
